AMLETO

Synopsis

Hamlet acted by the homeless.
As Shakespeare stages, without compromise, the relationship of a human mind with life and its problem, so the homeless of Milan act with sentences of Hamlet their constantly questioning themselves.
The short, was made by Tekla Taidelli with the help of the students of the Street Cinema School she founded in 2013, a school that always deals with current issues with Shakespeare’s lyrics.
Tekla does not set out to explain the reason for a particular choice, rather she intends to propose splits of current reality, privileging as protagonists not those who “suffer” the road, but those who chose it.
Hamlet is the pilot of a travelling school project: THE JOURNEYS OF HAMLET.
An interrail journey with Franco, one of the homeless protagonists of the short, for 30 years in the street, through the seven Italian cities of: Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples, Bari, Palermo, in search of his “friends-Hamlet” , those who are commonly defined: “barboni”, “clochardes”, “homeless”.

To be or not to be – that is the question.
Whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them.
To die, to sleep, no more.
And by a sleep to say we end the heartache
and the thousand natural shocks
that flesh is heir to.
