Synopsis

Filmed, photographed and narrated by a volunteer firefighter over the worst days of Australia’s Black Summer bushfires, the documentary short “Beyond the Roadblocks” is an immersive cinematic experience, taking the audience to the front lines of the worst fires in Australia’s history. This personal, emotional story of the filmmaker’s own experiences as a firefighter transcends familiar public-facing imagery, exposing a harrowing and insightful view into the physical and emotional challenges faced by the volunteer firefighters charged with protecting our communities.
