Synopsis
How and why did I make the Proust armchair? From the mid-1970s, I started thinking about a “Proust fabric”, a fabric arising from the literary inspirations of the great novelist and the paintings of Georges Seurat and Paul Signac. In 1978, I created the first Proust armchair, an object “that is not craft, not design, not painting, not sculpture, but together is the negation of all those things”.
