Synopsis
The United States of America has become a magnet for the Russian immigrant circles for almost a century. There are many Russian writers and poets, artists and architects, musicians and scientists who came to the U.S.A. and became prominent figures in both Russian and American cultures.
The series of documentary films “Russian America” narrates a story of the modern Russian-American cultural elite. There, well-known Russian cultural icons tell a poignant tale about their thoughts, professional achievements, and diverse life situations.
One of the documentaries “Past Imperfect” is a portrait of Grisha Bruskin – an outstanding visual artist and writer. Bruskin’s works represent two great cultures, Russian and American. He thinks he owes realization of his creative potential particularly to the immigration to this country and his life in New York.
