The Studiolo in Vicolo dei Vetri

Synopsis

The discovery of the Studiolo in Vicolo dei Vetri revealed an environment that seemed destined to remain forever buried by centuries of deterioration and abandonment. Today it is a small treasure chest full of history, art and mystery.
During the restoration of an apparently anonymous building, some frescoes referable to the eighteenth century were found under various layers of lime and plaster. However, below them there is the presence of more ancient frescoes attributable to the time of Giorgione (early decades of the sixteenth century).
But who frequented this place? When was it built? And what were its original functions? There are many mysteries to which the historical-artistic research is trying to answer. A notary’s office? The meeting place of a brotherhood or a secret club? A court for minor causes? These are the most debated hypotheses but there are still many questions and mysteries regarding this environment which, from the first half of the sixteenth century, continues to hide its enigmas.

Original/Alternative Title: Lo Studiolo di Vicolo dei Vetri
