Synopsis
Now, everything feels like a dream, 07:12, Berlin, 2023

Now, everything feels like a dream by video artist and photographer Darja Preuss is an almost utopian story from the future and depicts the journey and everyday life of a spaceship. Even in the future, also in space, exploitation rules. Like everywhere else, everything on this ship is functionalized and geared towards productivity. There is a regulated structure, as well as strict working hours, omnipresent the drone of the ship. Only now and then, in small moments, the crew finds itself in the same daydreams, always with the hope of rest and an end to the work.

Inspired by mainly science fiction stories, movies or the recently published novel by Olga Rain "The Employees", the everyday life of the spaceship is told only using empty spaces and strange dream sequences. By using live-cam material from the internet, film clips, photographs and video material from the artists archive, the viewer feels in an observing role, without ever getting to see the crew of the ship. Only the short descriptions of individual rooms give us a little more information about what is happening on board and the feelings of the crew. Nevertheless, everything on the ship revolves around work, everything is subordinated to it. A sense of melancholy and longing spreads through the rooms of the ship, with a little hope for happiness and a little hope for a better tomorrow.
