The final short film tells a heart-wrenching story: Yiyi, a girl from a single-parent family, has long been under her father’s strict control, restricted to a routine between home and school, and forbidden from unnecessary social contact. On the day her best friend is about to emigrate, her father confines her to her room, preventing their final meeting. In the end, she takes her own life. The film was produced on a low budget, using everyday settings, non-professional yet thematically expressive actors, cost-effective equipment, and carefully arranged props and lighting. Through making and showing this film, I hope to raise awareness among viewers about the mental health and domestic violence issues faced by adolescents, while also overcoming their own past psychological trauma and exploring, within the field of film, how to depict violent situations and a protagonist’s inner loneliness through non-violent means.
