Synopsis
In a rural Indian village, a poor farmer—belonging to a marginalized caste—raises his young daughter alone, nurturing one hope: to see her become a respected officer and escape the cycle of poverty. To fulfill that dream, he mortgages his only land and borrows money from a dominant-caste village lender, investing everything into farming.

When the harvest fails due to poor-quality seeds, the farmer confronts the seed supplier, who shrugs off responsibility, blaming the government for supplying low-quality seeds and mocking him. Desperate and broken, the farmer pleads with the lender for more time—but instead of compassion, he is humiliated and viciously insulted. The lender declares he will seize the land the next day.

Aware of the harsh caste biases in the village, the father realizes a cruel truth: if he dies on his own field, the dominant-caste lender won’t dare touch it—rooted in deep discrimination, caste superiority, and the arrogant belief that lower-caste people are meant to remain beneath them. With that in mind, he makes an unthinkable decision.

On what becomes his final day, he hides his pain, smiles for his daughter, and even buys her the anklets he once promised. The next morning, before dawn, he ends his life in the field—turning his final breath into a shield to protect her future.

A heartbreaking story of caste, dignity, and a father's ultimate sacrifice born out of love and injustice.
