Synopsis
Through the mysterious pathways of artificial intelligence, I challenge myself to rethink and reinvent my artistic production—from its beginnings to the present—transforming it into a true archive from which to draw. Alongside this is the adaptation of images sourced from the web, which often infiltrate our collective imagination—persistently and, at times, passively.
The result of this process highlights the importance of wonder, an essential element for anyone engaged in the creative act, bringing a new and stimulating vitality to artistic practice. Next to pre-existing images, such as those taken from Luca Delfini’s films—he too a signatory of the Manifesto—completely artificial images generated by AI come to life.
Whether shot on film, painted, or simply digitized, these images take on the material role of fragments of cellulose acetate—containers of memories that can be as real as they are illusory, much like everything that surrounds us in contemporary life. Ambiguity is the core of the short film.
These images accompany, with a touch of irony, the lyrics of a song—also generated by artificial intelligence and reworked in post-production—inspired by the Manifesto of Post-Neorealism, recently published by its author, Piero Deggiovanni.
The short film aims to position itself as an artistic and proactive manifesto, giving shape and substance to a dissenting thought against a certain trend—prevalent in both criticism and contemporary cinema—that labels itself as “experimental” while remaining tied to well-worn modes and conventions, repackaged as though they were new and innovative.
