Vincenzo, a loyal mafia hitman, is given the order to eliminate his closest friend and mentor, Giovanni, who has retreated to a quiet life in a trailer. Haunted by guilt, Vincenzo finds himself tormented by waking nightmares as he visits Giovanni under the guise of a friendly reunion. Over the course of a day together, Vincenzo finally reveals the truth and begs Giovanni to run away with him. But Giovanni confesses that he was the one who asked the mafia to send someone after him—diagnosed with terminal cancer, he wishes to die on his own terms, with dignity. Despite Vincenzo’s desperate pleas, Giovanni compels him to carry out the fatal act.
