Synopsis
The following short documental is based on research conducted in the province of Castellón, Spain, and highlights a clear message: proper nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding is essential for the health of both mother and baby. The study shows that, although many women try to care for their diet during these stages, eating habits do not always meet recommended nutritional needs, with low consumption of foods such as fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and cereals, as well as deficiencies in key nutrients. It also underlines that maternal nutrition should remain a priority after childbirth, since the mother continues to face important physical and nutritional demands during lactation, even when attention is often focused mainly on the baby. Supporting women with better nutritional guidance and care during pregnancy and breastfeeding is therefore crucial to protect maternal health, support breastfeeding, and promote a healthier start in life for children. This research is especially valuable because it was carried out without public funding, made possible instead by the generous voluntary participation of the mothers involved and the dedicated, altruistic commitment of the researchers, whose work reflects both scientific vocation and a shared desire to improve maternal and infant health.
