Synopsis
Told through the fragile voice of a child, Innocent Prisoner follows Shanu, a young boy whose world once revolved around butterflies, school bells, rooftop stargazing, and his little sister, Myra.
Behind the innocence of his childhood, however, lies a home overshadowed by violence. Shanu lives in constant fear of his father, who repeatedly abuses his mother. One night, a brutal argument spirals into tragedy. His father falls. The police take his mother away. In a single devastating moment, Shanu’s childhood collapses.
Abandoned by relatives and judged by society, Shanu and Myra are left to face the world alone — until another loss strikes. With nowhere else to go, Shanu is taken to live inside prison with his incarcerated mother. Though he has committed no crime, he begins serving a sentence written by fate.
Within the cold prison walls, school days disappear, laughter fades, and even the sky no longer feels the same. The peacock he once imagined among the stars vanishes — a quiet symbol of his stolen innocence.

Innocent Prisoner is a deeply moving animated short that sheds light on the unseen lives of children growing up behind prison walls — children who have committed no crime, yet serve a sentence dictated by fate. Through Shanu’s eyes, the film questions justice, society’s silence, and the invisible scars carried by the most innocent among us.
