This song was co-written by Clare Steffen (lyricist and videographer) from the United States and Gilbert Baci (composer, vocalist, and producer) from Nigeria. The song was written to focus on disabilities and to acknowledge that some disabilities are visible, while others may be invisible. It was also written to increase awareness on Autism, which currently has a reported incidence rate of 1/68 and in some reports 1/40 in children. The spectrum of issues are diverse and can range from the individual being non-verbal with cognitive impairments to verbal with high level of intelligence or giftedness. Some commonality, is the difficulty an individual with autism may experience regarding social contact or touching. Most individuals with Autism struggle with reading social cues, and as a result can express awkwardness, which can result in them being excluded. Some have issues with obsessive-compulsiveness, and many have trouble with change or transitions. Our recent change in how we define the condition of Autism, may explain the increase in the incidence rates, or it may simply be that we have gotten better at assessment. This song was written as a part of the Round The Globe project, and is offered to help bring more understanding, increased tolerance, and awareness related to Autism and other disabiities.
