Gallery director Veronica Strain has just had a successful opening with one of her most profitable artists, Percy McDonald. Languishing in a boozy, post-show reverie, she and her husband Hamish convey their jaded cynicism of the often ridiculous world of commercial art. But something is up.
When Suzi, the deputy gallery director, shows up to finalise some paperwork, Veronica and Hamish must deliver the news. Percy’s dead, recently expired, and is in fact lying on the lounge room floor.
Veronica and Hamish must now sell Suzi on the idea of strategically framing Percy’s death for publicity purposes and re-marketing his material. Suzi is at first doubtful, but can easily see the improved financial prospects in the scheme, and eventually agrees to participate.
