Crystal, a college student in her first relationship, wants to prove her mother wrong; not all men are bad like her father. Uncertain if meeting the parents is too soon, her boyfriend comes along anyway to dinner at her mother's house. The dinner never reaches dessert, however, when Crystal's overprotective mother, set in her ways, decides to see if Crystal's beau is worthy of her daughter's affection. Crystal soon realizes that neither is worthy and is brought to a breaking point where she learns to prioritize her own choices and feelings for once.
