But the gifts received from the lord's hands do not only bring joy: the girl got drunk and fell off the stove, and the ram broke the lord's legs.

During the Homeland War (1991-1995) Croatia was devastated with estimates ranging from 20-25% of its economy destroyed. Tens of thousands were killed and many more were left homeless. Through the voices of common people, Homecoming tells a story about the raise of a small, invisible Balkan country with enormous natural and human beauty from the ashes of terror; the country which still bears the scars, both physical and psychological, of the conflict during the War of Independence. It reflects upon a part of history that, although can never be changed, has molded and influenced a generation in a positive way.

Twenty Second Hold

Drawing on the vocabulary of the film still and tableau vivant, the film witnesses actor/ models preparing and performing a series of choreographed still scenes based on common cinematic and everyday scenarios. At the centre of the film is the use of cinematic devices to draw an audience into the fiction of the still enactments. Short sections of footage shot ‘between takes’ interrupt these evocative passages, addressing the audiences will to suspend their disbelief or be reminded of the conditions of the films production.

Made by artist, sculptor and art restorer Ana Elizabet, “Are you breathing?” (“Dišeš?”) was a public space intervention placed in 2011–2012 on a building wall along one of the more frequent streets in downtown of Zagreb, Croatia. The film explores building tenants’ and passengers’ reactions, and contextualizes this piece within the tradition of Yugoslavian and Croatian light art in the 1960s and ‘70s, as well as contemporary international trends in conceptual art.

Loyalty, friendship and life are bet against a new beginning in the city where the streets are allegedly paved with gold. The odds are against them and the chance of survival is a row of the dice.
