SOLD IN AMERICA is a glimpse into the world of sex trafficking in the United States through the stories of three women sold at an early age, whom we now meet as empowered survivors. On the streets of our own neighborhoods, an immigrant is lured into a fake job that turns out to be a trap; a child is sold by her relative to sexual predators during weekend visits; and a teenager is forced by her boyfriend to turn tricks in motel rooms. After conquering their tragic past, Maria, Miriam, and Michele offer voices of hope for those still in captivity today, and a call to action for us all to create awareness and eradicate modern-day slavery.

Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari

Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari (The Story You Don't Know) is a J-pop song by the Japanese band Supercell, written by Ryo. Supercell released it as their debut single in August 2009 by Sony Music. The title track was the ending theme song to the 2009 Bakemonogatari anime series, and the B-side track "Love & Roll" was the theme song for the 2009 Cencoroll anime film. A music video was produced for "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari", directed by Hirohisa Sasaki. Lyrically, the song deals with an unrequited love.

Can I Borrow a Light?

A thoughtful young man ambles around the Han River, providing an expansive setting for his contemplations. During a telephone call on the Jamsu Bridge, connecting the districts of Yongsan-gu and Seocho-gu in Seoul, he discovers his umbrella has been lost by the girl he lent it to, and judging by his disappointed reaction, we can see he is hurt at being forgotten. Another lost soul is on this bridge, a man with a guitar asks for a light and a song. Soon the young man’s problems are put into context, when arguments about umbrellas seem to fade into meaninglessness.

The woman is awoken from her mid-afternoon suburban slumber by the arrival of an attractive young man over her garden fence. The man is being chased by the police and begs the woman to hide him, which much to her own surprise, she does. The police come and go leaving them alone at the back door, the sexual chemistry between them is as clear as day and were it not for an arrival at the front door things may have progressed further. The woman has a daughter and relations are at an all time low. However, the situation becomes even more strained when the girl brings a man back one night, the very same man from over the garden fence just days before. Despite their shock, the young man and the woman keep their cool maintaining the illusion that they have never met, evidently there is unfinished business they need to attend to.
