Dublin 26.06.08: A Film in 4 Days

Dublin 26.06.08: A Film in 4 Days

2008 • 48 min
In a rare and potentially fatal feat of cinematic daring, "Dublin 26.06.08" was shot entirely between 12.01am and 11.59pm on Thursday June 26th 2008. This audacious cinematic collage offers both a unique snapshot of a single day in the life of Dublin and a vivid example of a bold guerrilla filmmaking model. The film is an eclectic, multi-authored impression of Dublin (within the bounds of the encircling M50 motorway) as it lived, died, breathed, made love, filled up and emptied, consumed, wept, was rained and shone upon, grew bright and then darkened again.

Running In a Maze

Running In a Maze

2008 • 3 min • Canada
Running In A Maze features an abstracted video of young women and men playfully chasing one another in a maze created by artist Charles Rea. The layering of architectural forms and spaces in conjunction with abstracted text creates a visual labyrinth in which multiple mirrored surfaces collide. Wong’s video documents Rea’s Mirror Maze, an installation consisting of symbols and patterns painted onto large convex security mirrors. The mirrored planes and cryptic text used to decipher information reference modern information systems and other myriad forms of technology. Splicing and fusing of architectural forms and transparent walls in this maze simulate an environment of reflected and reflecting surfaces that parallel Wong’s interest in discovering his own identity.

When two estranged friends, Thurber (Murphy, BANSHEE!!!) and Eliot (Meinecke), meet for drinks, Eliot finds that Thurber is not the person he once knew. Thurber reveals that Pickman (Timmis, Kreating Karloff), a man he was using as a source for a Paper on Weird art, is linked to his recent change in demeanor. It begins with a simple invitation to view Pickman's work at his isolated studio in Boston's North End. And ends with the apprehension that what lurks in the foreground of Pickman's work is far more sinister than the art itself. Adapted from the original short story "Pickman's Model" by: H.P. Lovecraft.
