Long, bright day. Rabbit on the road. You try to avoid it. You crash. Two parallel worlds.

In 1937 and 1938, Sten Bergman published In Korean Wilds and Villages in Stockholm and in London, respectively. This book, also translated into Korean in 1999, was presented as part of the author's zoological and ethnographical interest in East Asia. The text for this film, Summer Days in Keijo—written in 1937 (2007), is inspired by two minor chapters about the city Keijo (out of a total of 34 eloquent chapters on "Korean wilds and villages"). Keijo is the Japanese pronunciation of the old word for Seoul, known as Kyungsung to many contemporary Koreans. The city, since 1937, has repeatedly been revamped, relocated, displaced, demolished, or destroyed by the capricious needs of the ever-sliding bar of present times. This film documents the dated modernization of Keijo as previously witnessed by Bergman's generation; what was witnessed then is now recognized only with textual specters over the site.

Jerry Macri's Pennsylvania Railroad is huge, 4300 square feet of big time four track mainline! In fact this may be the largest home layout ever built! This HO layout runs from Chicago to New York and can handle more than 1200 pieces of rolling stock. It takes a train 25 minutes to run across the layout. Along the line there is a massive steel mill and a 30 foot deep Horseshoe Curve-- two signature elements of Western Pennsylvania. The Pennsy began in 1990 in a 2800 square foot basement. But then Jerry decided to add more layout space and more house and even a patio above. So the layout is now 3 inter-connected rooms with about 50% of the scenery completed. There are more than 20,000 trees on the layout. This is a prototype-based HO layout with a lot of freelanced scenic elements. Creating realistic and evocative scenes is Jerry's favorite part of the hobby because this helps him remember special times and places from his youth in the late 50s and early 60s.

Director Howard Taylor followed Sacha's personal story and the wider histories of the awa, weaving reconstructions, archival footage and lush river images into a rich story of people and place.
