Escher-inspired short. Pedestrians stroll under a watery sky as the Thames stretches across the heavens, whilst cars drive along the roof of Waterloo Bridge as book buyers browse oblivious below. The South Bank features prominently in delightfully askew visions, with deranged shots of the National Theatre and the Queen Elizabeth Hall undercroft (the haven for skateboarders, seen here leaping into oblivion). The Hayward Gallery, St. Martin in the Fields and many other London landmarks are also surreally readjusted. The ominous music by the Dark Poets and the destructive images suggest that this film should be unsettling, but in fact the effect is amusing rather than disquieting, and the chief pleasure of this short is in adjusting one’s perspective to recognise the famous locations.

Abraham Wasserman, a Holocaust survivor who had lost his entire family in the camps, and who has since turned his back on God is an elderly farmer living in a small, rural community. Of his two daughters, one still lives with him whilst the other has become ultra-orthodox. The relationship with his immediate family is complex, as is the one with his grandchildren and the other locals in the community which, over the years, has grown increasingly religious. It is a drought year and Abraham, for whom working the field is his whole life, finds himself at a critical juncture: he stands to lose everything – his livelihood, his family; even his hatred of God which is keeping him alive. In this time of crisis, he is left with no choice but to seek out the same God whom he had forsaken; and pray.

According to estimates by some scientists, it could contain the remains of several million mammoths! eternal ice. Their goal: to discover the frozen remains of mammoths trapped in the permafrost. Using derisory means, they dig the frozen ground from which they extract bones, teeth, skulls... and above all, precious mammoth tusks. Ivory - the white gold of the tundra - will sell for over $50 a kilo. A total market appears at $2.5 million, with hubs in Moscow and Hong Kong.
