The film's title reflects this, as the Arabic words used to describe the imposed curfew "mane' tajawwul" literally translate as "forbidden to wander". The video is also the journey of personal discovery for the filmmaker, the wanderer who falls in love with a Palestinian man in Gaza.

This is actually the first cartoon I ever made. Working with Sevan Najarian and Abed Gheith, this thing was all we did every day for a few months back in early 2003. I drew everything and Sevan key-framed all my art making it come alive. It was actually one of the most pure things I’ve ever done, since we had no reason for making this thing other than our own desire to do so. We didn’t have an audience in mind. I remember Abed and I recorded all the voices in my car, right into the mic of a shitty Sony digital 8 camcorder. It sounds like shit, and we were soaked in sweat from the heat of that car, but the whole time we were laughing our asses off. The comic book shop in the opening is “Earth2Comics” in Sherman Oaks. I still shop there to this day. With homemade camera mount, homemade roof-racks, yellow kayak and industrial supply of sunscreen, the film alludes to Beau’s underdone sea kayaking skills as he leaves mainland Australia under his own power for the first time. In the final days of the journey, Beau comes to realise that sea kayaking, and ad-hoc travel with only the bare essentials, is the most potent combination of living he’s ever experienced.

Trained at the climbing schools of Fontainebleau and Saussois, he distinguished himself in 1965 by solo climbing the Pentecôte route at Glandasse. He also made first ascents in the Verdon Gorges, winter ascents in the Prealps and the Mont Blanc massif, notably in 1971 the first solo ascent of the Directe Américaine on the west face of the Drus. The film was selected for the "Les Écrans Documentaires" festival in 2004.
