The scene takes place in 1212 at the beginning of the Middle Ages. The Queen has suddenly taken ill at Riberhus Castle. In her feverish dreams she meets the persona of death with its bony hand holding the white queen on a chessboard. Several mile's away, King Valdemar Sejr, who doesn't yet have knowledge of his wife's illness, is out on a hunt. Suddenly his falcon disappears in the woods and the king pursues it. He finds it on the shoulder of a bony man who is dressed in a black mantle and waiting for him beside a chessboard.

Some ficus species are strangler figs. The seeds are eaten by birds and pass through the digestive tract undamaged. If they are excreted on the branch of a tree in the feces of the birds and remain stuck there thanks to the mistletoe-like slimy seed coat, the seeds germinate on the branch. The fig plants grow directly there, so they are initially epiphytes. But their aerial roots grow down to the ground. When the roots reach the ground, the figs begin to grow faster and form many more aerial roots. They gradually enclose their supporting or host tree, which eventually dies, forming a cavity inside the strangler fig. The strangler fig also benefits from the nutrients released during the decomposition of the dead supporting tree.

Desert and Rocky Mountain Bighorn Rams III is a series of fantastic hunts throughout the past three years (1997 - 1999) and includes two years of hunting scenes from Alberta Canada's auction tag. Mark Almgreen takes a great desert sheep with a muzzleloader, Ann Palmer shoots a great desert ram in Arizona, and we'll see a pistol hunt that completes all four methods of hunting. With two additional Bighorn scenes, Bighorn III highlights nine outstanding hunts and closely focuses on field judging rams between 160 and 208 Boone and Crockett points.

It traces its beginnings amongst the white working class, the decades-long influence of the former Soviet Union, its alliance with the ANC and the political fall-out symbolised by the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

This documentary traces the tangled paths and multifaceted identity of a black Cuban family in the Bronx. The subjects of this film experienced firsthand some of the great historical events of the 20th century – they saw Castro’s arrival in Havana and had their neighborhood bombed in the Bay of Pigs invasion; one son fought in Vietnam and a daughter marched against it. Both working-class and professional, black and Latino, foreign and native, Spanish-speaking and English-speaking, the family is shown in the constant process of negotiating its identity. On their arrival in Miami, the family immediately encountered racial segregation, and as children in a mixed Puerto Rican/African-American neighborhood in the Bronx, they were forced by their playmates to choose their identity: “Are you black or Spanish?” Even the family’s roots in Cuba are complex - the grandfather was the son of Jamaican immigrants to Cuba – and their relation to the Cuban Revolution is ambiguous.
