One of the ways that people have adopted Bitcoin use is to send money to loved ones and family members overseas. Money that is sent or transferred to someone else is called a remittance. When remittances are sent via Bitcoin, this often saves both parties from high bank transfer costs or high fees from traditional money transfer services. Mined Soil

The film-essay Mined Soil revisits the work of the Guinean agronomist Amílcar Cabral, who studied soil erosion in the Alentejo region of Portugal through the lens of his political engagement as a leader of the African Liberation Movement of the 1950s. This line of thought intertwines with documentation of an experimental gold mining site, now operated by a Canadian company located in the same Portuguese region once studied by Cabral. In Mined Soil, the voiceover dialouge explores the space, surface, and textures of the images presented, proposing past and present definitions of soil as a repository of memory, exploitation, crisis, and treasure.

F.L.I.R. deals mainly with military imagery captured by AC-130s, BlackHawks and war drones during ordered missions on Syrian, Afghan and Iraqi territory. The sound material comes from the sensations and feelings of the soldiers responsible for carrying out these objectives. In this project, the aim is to poetically destroy this military aesthetic in such a way as to paradoxically place the viewer in a combat space so that he can feel its sensory depths.

Roundtrip is a three-minute film that documents two train journeys (from New York City to Montreal, and back again) undertaken by Leonard and his partner in the fall of 2014. Through the consistent use of a split-screen, the two journeys can be observed side-by-side, unfolding in parallel within the film’s vertically divided frame. The purpose of the trip was to visit the father of Leonard’s partner in hospital where he was receiving a kidney transplant from his own sister. While this background information is not made available to viewers of the film, it constitutes the hidden narrative center of the film which is further mirrored in the work’s formal concern with questions of division and unity.

From the Heart of Brahma is the story of Prumsodun Ok, a Cambodian Classical Dancer focused on reviving and revitalizing his chosen art form nearly destroyed by genocide. His work as Associate Artistic Director of Khmer Arts Academy centers on reviving the traditional form while his interdisciplinary work revitalizes Cambodian Classical Dance in an effort to make it relevant in our contemporary society. Prum's work can be very controversial as he uses gay semi-nude bodies in traditional dances like Robam Apsara, a dance seen by many as the national dance of Cambodia. From the Heart of Brahma exposes Prum's missions to open dialogue about the role of tradition and gay love in modernity and follows him as he shares his art internationally.
