A promise to research his grandparents lives for a family reunion program changed the course of the Clive Romney's life, and started him on a story telling career. Family stories led to Utah pioneer stories and that led to the founding of Utah Pioneer Heritage Arts, through which Clive encourages artists in all disciplines to use their art to tell the stories of Utah's settlement, which was unlike any in the world. The Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area (MPNHA), created by an act of Congress in 2006, exists to tell the stories of Utah's pioneers - Mormons, Indigenous Peoples, and all others - in Sanpete, Sevier, Piute, Wayne, Garfield and Kane Counties. Clive's involvement with and love of the MPNHA led him to focus his first storytelling DVD on stories from that area, though his interest extends to the entire state of Utah. There are thousands more stories to tell from the MPNHA alone. Volume One is only the beginning.

In the 1980s, the popular Action Line talk show was a colourful record of Winnipeg caller reactions to hot-button issues of the day. Using archival audio as a formal foundation (with host Peter Warren’s voice removed), McKenna carefully composes monochromatic portraits of Winnipegers as stark silent listeners, while voices from the past illuminate how much and little has changed in Canada’s gateway to the West.

On 20 July 1944, an assassination attempt was made on the life of Adolf Hitler; its failure and that of the coup d'état planned to follow, Operation Valkyrie, lead to the arrest and execution of thousands of people. In his film, "The Traitors' Children", Christian Weisenborn presents harrowing encounters with the children of the executed conspirators, while also taking a look at his own family history. His parents belonged to a group of anti-fascists, which the Gestapo called the "Rote Kapelle" (the red chapel). Weisenborn's parents survived, but 52 of their friends were hanged in Plötzensee in 1942/43. Weisenborn also interviewed their sons and daughters.

In Deep Down & Dirty: The Science of Soil, Chris Beardshaw explores where soil comes from, what it's made of and what makes it so essential to life.

'I’m not moaning, you don’t hear me moaning!' These are the words spoken by Gladys Morris, the artist’s dead grandmother, that form, along with other snippets of her conversation, the soundscape for moving image artist Andrew Kötting’s latest work 'The Woman of Kent', a short film that acts as an intervention in the cinema space at Kino Digital in Hawkhurst, Kent. The Woman of Kent interrupts the cinematic experience like an explosion. The words of Gladys are laid over tiny sections of archive moving image showing a Kent that no longer exists, edited together at high speed and interspersed with contemporary pinhole stills of the cinema as it is today. The film will be shown exclusively at the Kino, before regular screenings. The audience may notice the accompanying poster designed by Kötting in the foyer, advertising it as ‘remarkably confusing’ and ‘a forgettable classic’, but other than this will receive no indication of what they are about to witness.

At the end of the 80's, the city of Itacuruba, in the backlands of Pernambuco, was transferred to another locality due to the construction of a hydroelectric plant. In the new region, the city began to register many suicides, reaching a rate ten times greater than the national average. Through memories of the lost city, villagers reveal that the root of a people is like the root of a tree: essential to life.
