In June of 2011, The Okee Dokee Brothers canoed the Mississippi River from St. Paul, MN to St. Louis, MO. During their month-long journey down the river, they camped, paddled, and composed the songs that make up the GRAMMY Award-winning album, Can You Canoe?. This 40-minute movie details their adventure with interviews, music videos, and other shenanigans set along the Mississippi River.

Raumlichtkunst (1926/2012) was the name of a series of live multiple projector concerts given by Oskar Fischinger in the 1920s in Germany. It was not performed after that time. In 2012 it was restored and reconstructed from original nitrate materials, by Center for Visual Music in Los Angeles. It now exists as an HD digital, three-projector, looped museum installation for black box galleries, having been on display at Tate Modern, Whitney Museum New York, ACMI Melbourne and other museums worldwide. The three non-synched loops create ever-evolving new combinations of abstract patterns. While the original was accompanied by live percussive music, the reconstruction is exhibited with three different compositions by John Cage and Lou Harrison, and Edgar Varese.

In pursuit of an eclipse, the citizens of Winnipeg flee the city. Meanwhile, stranded in Tudor Village, the caretaker does his best to interrupt their trajectory & entice everyone to return.

The film explores the different shapes and colors of clouds. It probes the space clouds occupy. Through the use of haunting ethereal sounds and ghostlike imagery, the experience of seeing the heavens is interpreted.

Priya is an extended aerial shot of a twirling Kathak dancer. The footage was buried in various organic materials deteriorating the initial image in an attempt to shift cultural specificity and linear narratives of time and space. Rituals of burial expound successive memories of entombment; the skin of the film becomes the body of the dancer, fracturing time into a darkly evocative, psychological space.

Considered as the first of its category and still being held event, Beijing Queer Film Festival is the only community-based non-governmental film festival with a special focus on gender and sexuality in China. As LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) issues remain politically sensitive, in addition to China’s strict media censorship, the film festival has encountered enormous difficulties in its development. During the past ten years, the festival venue has shifted from the western suburb of the city to the eastern suburb of the city, and from the city to the countryside. In 2011 it went back to the city and took the strategies of the ‘guerilla warfare’ because of government intervention and censorship. Based on the footages recorded and collected by each year’s organization committee, the film interviewed the committee members and let them tell the stories of the festival and of themselves.

The Sydney Convicts Rugby Union is as tough as any other Australian team; the only difference is it’s an all-gay male squad. In just 45-minutes, you get an incredibly intimate insight into the players’ lives—and a brilliant look around many parts of Sydney. In very flattering shorts, players carb-up before practice, seriously work out in the gym, box, run sprints up and down stairs and at the beach, strategize about the game with each other, cross-train, do major ab work and the pre-game “squeeze”. Interviews with team members are surprisingly candid, well thought out and engaging.
