A one hour documentary that interweaves three stories of South African lesbians who adopt across racial lines. The film explores the ways in which these queer families challenge and are challenged by the traditional hierarchies of race and heterosexism that are still deeply entrenched in the South African psyche.

Two soccer tems in Congo. Two group of girls. The eldest is 30 years old, the youngest 15. Their job : professional soccer players. A crazy choice for their families, because in Congo, it is nearly impossible to live from the income soccer provides. These players bring thousands of fans to the stadium, though they live in poverty. Nevertheless, they continue to believe and train every day. Their dream: to go to Europe, and play in a women’s soccer club. The film shows the duality in the lives of these players. The life in the stadium, under the spotlight, and the other life, outside, the struggle for survival.

The camera explores the remains of Tell el-Ful, a building in northeast Jerusalem intended to serve as a summer palace for the Jordanian royal family. Begun in 1966, the building’s construction was halted by the Six-Day War the following year. The building was never completed nor was its early structure removed, and the site is Israeli territory.

Andrei Shkolny is a journalist, in the remote countryside of Russia and Moscow is a long way away. People are poor and disgusted by politics and newspapers. Surviving everyday life is quite hard enough. Shkolny left his job at the regional paper “The Leninist”, because he couldn’t go on writing articles about nothing. A journalist through and through, he created his own newspaper – Nasha Gazeta (Our Paper) – which now has about 7000 readers every week. People can read their own news. There are no articles about Moscow, about golden harvests, about impressive yet unrealized and unrealizable projects, but stories about the village that has had no water for three months, about the farmer who found his dog by barking himself, about the doctor who travels many kilometers by bicycle every day despite temperatures of –36. The authorities are not amused. Shkolny is convinced he is doing nothing wrong. Who will win in the end?

On Top of the Hood is the brainchild of skier Sammy Carlson. Sammy C skied, directed and produced his first motion picture with the help of Nimbus Independent and Tom Yaps. Sammy has a unique approach to skiing, and the style he captures on film. On Top of the Hood documents a spring season skiing with Sammy C and friends.

It could be a fragment of a TV report from the People's Republic of Poland. Fanaticism, toughness, complete devotion. close-up of a workman's face: craggy, with a moustache so popular in the '70s and '80s. Work is carried out with commitment, no slacking off, although the hammer’s changing rhythm may cause wonder. The following shots uncover the convention of the situation being filmed: the workman’s hammer is hitting the air, he himself is standing in a rectangle painted on the ground. The industrial hall (the place of action) is fully authentic, with a very strong symbolic meaning. It is the hall of the Gdańsk Shipyard. The production is something in between documentary film and video art.

Correspondence is an elegy for a kind of imagemaking that is in the process of disappearing.

These collections of items—which together build an iconography that spans literature, music, intellectual history, and echoes of the artist’s childhood in Chicago—reflect deeply personal references interwoven with pervasive cultural narratives.

In Barthes' essay, "The Grain of the Voice", the concept of the "genosong" was evoked to separate the sound of the voice from its language. Visual Music for Ten Voices distinguishes the physicality of the optical vocal track as having a unique identity from its actual resonance in sound films. Designed as a 10-foot black box projection loop, this film focuses on the rhythm and materiality of ten 35mm optical soundtracks. Each musical passage maintains its original length and linear harmony with the other tracks, collectively creating a new sense of motion and repetition.

"Homeboy" examines the lives of several gay Latino men living in and around the Los Angeles area who are either former gang members or who are currently active in gangs. These men range in age from their early-20's to their mid-40's, most of whom entered gangs while in their early teenage years. This is a story of their individual journeys. Through a series of interviews, "Homeboy" aims to provide a voice for a unique intersection of cultures until now previously unheard: contemporary Latino culture, gay culture and the world of gangs. These personal accounts weave together, illuminating both parallels and differences amongst the subjects' experiences. We explore the transformation that these men have undergone, from membership within a gang - a world that is hyper-masculine and outwardly heterosexual - to the acceptance of being gay and how their lives have evolved. The film addresses internal and external stereotypes associated with the Latino, gay and gang cultures.

What could be more different than a christening and a group of aging transsexuals performing a session of Tombola Scostumata (calling bingo numbers accompanied by bawdy Neapolitan mottos) where they talk and sing about sex with men, the lives of male prostitutes and the daily battle against hypocritical people who consider themselves normal? For Tonino, Gennaro, Giacinto and Genny there is no difference. They are Le Coccinelle (the Ladybugs), who sing modern Neapolitan songs in drag. Their lives are divided between working as prostitutes on the streets of Naples, and performing, strangely enough, at family celebrations like baptisms, first communions and weddings. Neapolitan director Emanuela Pirelli reveals the lives of the femminielli, their passions and problems. They carry on an ancient yet modern art; an art that is worlds away from drag queen performances, but has provided the inspiration for them.

The Making of Out Loud is much more than a behind-the-scenes look at the myriad difficulties faced by the cast and crew of the Muslim world’s first commercial gay feature, Out Loud. This thought provoking, well researched look at the discrimination and outright persecution faced today by gays and lesbians in Muslim countries serves as a strong reminder of how precious Western gay rights gains are, as well as how much work remains to be done, especially in the face of many organized religions’ intolerance of the gay community.
