Four Little Films: Frost Table, Tholos, Jasmine Tea, and Garden

Frost Table was filmed at dawn on the 1st of January 2008. It was so cold that the camera would barely turn, until the sun came up. The film is a very modest record of a moment in a place, with camera-movement making reference to the passage of days. Tholos is a film of a Mycenaean tomb at Nichoria in Messenia, Greece. Jasmine Tea unknowingly reprised a project given to students at at least one university, when they are short of ideas: make a film of a cup of tea! Garden examines an area of my garden, which can be sombre or joyful. Starting with minutiae, the film works its way outwards.

A semi-documentary, semi-fictional film of the days following the cold-blooded murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos, a 15-year-old boy, by the police in Athens in December 2008. In the film -- among other things -- are presented many original street scenes and media stuff of those days.

‘User Group Disco’ is set in the Hall of Sculptures, although only a series of mundane objects and utensils are visible, swirling in a black void. There is no evident architecture or human presence. Text flashes up on the screen which builds a narrative about these objects, the institution which holds them and the desire for consumerism. The work is accompanied by an immersive soundtrack developed especially for the video.

Had the Conny but only a brown bear desired! Your pony just does not fit in the Schaffhausen bus. »Conny ihr Pony« (2008) by Robert Pohle and Martin Hentze is already a well-known poetry film. He was awarded several times and was even nominated for the German Film Award in 2009. It is based on a text by the Swiss slam poet Gabriel Vetter.
