The masks we wear end up using us. A different character to each of the people in his life, a stranger to himself, Jorge Torregrossa constantly faces the loss of his own identity. A mysterious voice on the phone warns him that an irrevocable event is approaching in his destiny, meanwhile Torregrossa runs through the labyrinth of his existence, looking for a way out before it is too late.

In a series of vignettes, wild North American migratory animals have been relocated from their natural habitats to inhabit vacant motel rooms. Whether it is a beaver swimming in a bathtub or a deer scavenging for food in a mini fridge, the animals engage with the constructed environments according to their wild instincts. These interactions, accompanied by footage of the built-up landscape, further exacerbate the palpable tension between the natural environment and the mythologized idea of America.

This is a short film about the first time I met the organizer and members of the "Iran Transsexual Support Society" in the summer of 2006 in Tehran. The group went on to play a pivotal role in bringing visibility and acceptance of sexual minorities in Iran until the death of its founder Ms. Maryam Khatoon Molkara in 2012.

The vanishing point of linear perspective is expanded to a plane. This allows all of the potential events within that vanishing point to mingle freely on the surface of the screen. Local sounds blend and shift. The expanded horizon causes reverberating fractures in time; multiple realities branch and flow through one another, creating a sponge-space of possibilities.

The Philippines is the world’s fourth-largest exporter of labour. One in eight Filipinos are overseas workers. Every year, awards are handed out among them to ‘recognise the most outstanding Filipino workers and their families for their exceptional achievements’. In the video The Model Family Award, Lizza May David captures the award ceremony to create awareness about this socio-political situation, as this commodification and exportation of human labour disrupts families. Besides criticising the contest and its organiser, the artist is also interested in exploring the often ambiguously suggestive power of the visual image and the media. Where is the line between reality and imagination? Between documentation and fiction?

Betty Brassell, a 78-year-old retired telephone operator born and raised in rural Georgia, spends nearly every day - rain or shine - protesting in the streets of New York City, her walker currently emblazoned with “Arrest Cheney.” Although she still holds on to her thick Southern drawl, Betty has called Manhattan’s Lower East Side home for more than 50 years, after escaping an abusive marriage and relocating with her children to New York in 1954. When she retired in the mid-1990s, activism became a new calling, even though she had never voted before. Her weeks soon filled with protests, meetings and campaigns. But as life tends to do at unexpected moments, it throws Betty a curveball - she injures herself at a large protest and must be homebound for months. The documentary follows Betty through several protests and her three-month recovery, leading up to her preparation for a large protest against the war in Iraq.

INVISIBLE tells the story of a woman named “Veronica” and her two children. Both the mother and her young daughter are HIV-positive and face the bitter effects of discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS in Trinidad & Tobago. Subsequent to the making of this video, Duncan and friends partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for “Veronica” and her children. This film was created for the Trinidad & Tobago Coalition for the Convention on the Rights of the Child (TTCCRC). Part of the CaribbeanTales Collection.

In the most inhospitable terrain of the legendary Saharan desert, lies the refugee camps of the Sahrawi Arab Republic. It is there that 5 young Sahrawis, through their drawings, reveal their hopes and dreams to us.

Student film re-imagining of Scorsese's first student film THE BIG SHAVE. A bathroom, clean and empty, is occupied by a man who needs a shave. Soon the space flows with red as Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" dreadfully dances along with the self-mutilation of the man's face as it is torn apart from a razor on the outside and something else within.

In southern Italy, in the 1960s, women danced into a trance to free themselves from the tarantula's venom. A remnant of an ancient rite, I set out to see what remained of it in Galatina on June 28th, a feast day. Reusing the trance images from Mingozzi's film Taranta (1962), I contrast them with the beauty of Puglia and what happens today on June 28th, when the tarantella is danced until the early hours. "Des Tarantelles" is a poetic reflection on transformation, the survival of rites in our contemporary world.
