This film explores the possibility of measuring distances between loved ones through time zones. The sound track is comprised of personal and tragic phone messages left on voicemail when individuals could not connect due to great time zone differences, while the visual elements present simple and contemplative images of antique telephones.

Inspired by automatic painting machines and looking for a way to replicate the effect in a digital space, Mengbo discovered that within the code for the video game Quake III Arena there existed a parameter called r_drawworld. After changing the parameter from it's default of 0 to 1, he found it was possible to capture a sequence of animation in one frame, which he used to create a painting machine from entirely within in the game's engine. His live painting efforts using this technique are showcased and set to a Hawaiian music soundtrack.
