Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, one of the most popular ballets of all time, is the romantic story of a young maiden who is turned into a swan by an evil spell, which can only be broken through a pledge of eternal love. In this charming film adaptation on DVD, broadcast on the Disney Channel and directed by Tom Frantz, the ballet is vividly recreated especially to introduce children to the world of dance and is entertaining for the whole family. Sitting by the fireside as the snow falls outside, a grandfather sparks his granddaughter's imagination with his telling of the magical fairytale Swan Lake. His narration is complimented by impressive performances from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and illustrated by the State Ballet of Oregon, dancing in the breathtaking outdoor scenery of the Pacific Northwest. Naturally lit by the sun and moon, Mother Nature creates an enchanting stage for this beautiful production that is sure to capture the imagination of any child.

The camera remains static to capture the accelerated movements, shot frame-by-frame, of ice skaters in a sunny winter morning. They are not portrayed as living things–they don’t have the ability to speak, and they look like robots from another planet whose language is the sound of sharp razors on thick ice. They may very well be ghosts, and less alive than the figures of nature in an old book.

Once in the capital, he gets in touch with Coral, a transsexual who has been working in prostitution for more than twenty years. Coral immediately welcomes David, integrates him into her world and tries by all means not to make the mistakes that she made and that have marked her for the rest of her life.
