The ubiquity of GPS (global positioning satellite) and other tracking technologies suggests that "being lost" may itself be an experience that is being lost. However, simply knowing one's geographical location as expressed in longitude and latitude coordinates has little bearing on one's personal sense of place or direction. "Drift" poses the age-old question "Where am I and where am I going?" in a contemporary moment in which spatial positioning and tracking technologies provide evermore precise, yet limited, answers to this question. The installation embraces the flow of wandering, the pleasure of disorientation, and the playful unpredictability of drifting as it relates to movement and translation.

In 2004 Picture This and South West Screen commissioned 'I Can See My Way Home' with Spacex Gallery, Exeter, as the second project in the 'Historic Sites' series. The work was originally a two-screen installation produced in response to two historic houses in Devon, Killerton House, a thriving National Trust homes, and Poltimore House, a ruin falling into a state of dilapidation. The caretaker and conservation expert emerges at Killerton, opening the closed shutters of the house, while a torch beam explores the devastated interior of Poltimore. This 11-minute extract is focused on the material Curran filmed inside of Poltimore House with an accompanying soundtrack.

In 2004 Picture This commissioned 'Being Mammy (Mammy's Looks)' as part of Ghosting, a long term initiative exploring themes of archive, memory, and ethnography. Being Mammy is the culmination of a research project that explored the world of the 'Mammy' caricature. Offeh examined the life and career of actress Hattie McDaniel, who famously played and won an Oscar for her role as 'Mammy' in Gone With The Wind. Offeh uses performance video works, along with a series of objects, including replica pre-cinema artefacts, posters, and other ephemera, to evoke the tragedy of the typecast actor doomed to recreate and replay the same role.

Shot in Glasgow University Library, this film explores how individuals use a communal space. It comprises interior footage of the library, contrasting deserted aisles and close-ups of shelves of books with shots of students engrossed in studying and using library facilities including computers, keyboards and lifts. By unobtrusively filming students and editing the film rhythmically like a piece of music, Nashashibi highlights the routines and patterns behind our everyday activities, which would usually go unnoticed. The theme centers around a 17-year old girl, Elena, who's tempted to dismiss as futile the hope for love in her life when her parents divorce. This fantasy genre film pays homage to The Wizard of Oz, with an oceanic mythic savor. The story is set in contemporary beach culture of Southern California. Elena escapes the troubles of her home life by retreating to the solitude of the ocean, where she surfs away her pain. When her parents divorce and her father moves out, Elena unconsciously projects onto her boyfriend, Evan, the negative feelings she develops for her father. In an intense surf session Elena has a wipe-out, gets hit on the head with her board and knocked unconscious. She gets pulled underwater, and when she surfaces, finds herself in a dali-esque mythical realm where she sets out on a quest to find what she has lost. Lani, a mermaid guides her to find herself and face the Sea-serpent of the cave.

Shuffled, scattered, stratified, slipped, toppled, and shifted in a “techtonic” terrain with geological faults and urban plans, 200,000 empty pages awaiting inscription travel in all directions to survey what is absent, and quiet the space like snowfall.
