Over four decades he has provided a feast for all comers, regardless of social station, from the simple urgency of ‘You Really Got Me’ to the detached melancholy of “Come Dancing’ . Our film takes a look at a career that has spanned 40 years – we talk to Ray about his work, life and inspirations, featuring his music from the hits of the early 60’s through to work on his new album and upcoming musical ‘Come Dancing’. The programme includes interviews with David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Paul Weller, Bob Geldof, Chris Difford, Clive Davis and journalists, who all show their respect and admiration for a man who is globally celebrated. Our film, illustrated with archive footage, specially shot performances and stills, will give an insight into the unique creative world of one of Britain’s most successful and influential songwriters and performers.

The influential, provocative, and often radical art-making practices of Vito Acconci have earned him international recognition. Acconci has been a vital presence in contemporary art since the late 1960s; his confrontational and ultimately political works have evolved from writing to conceptual art, bodyworks, performance, film, video, multimedia installation and architectural sculpture. This catalogue presents a complete selection of a wide range of Acconci's works (accompanied by a text on each project), an interview with the artist, an extensive bibliography, and includes a DVD with three 20-minute videos in which Acconci narrates.

Century 21 moves from the roof of the Winchester house to zoom in on a complex of three domed, space-age movie theaters situated across the street: Century 21, Century 22 and Century 23, alluding to the fact that it is film, TV and the media that perpetuate the icon of the gunfighter. The work consists of three short sections intended to represent what is “playing” in each of the theaters. These include richly layered montages of the Old West and pop-culture imagery, as well as art and film celebrities who appear as phantom stand-ins to embody the specters of the Cowboy and of Sarah Winchester herself.

History repeats itself . . . into the future . . .

The film 'Seven Intellectuals In Bamboo Forest' is based on the history of seven talented intellectuals from the ancient Chinese Wei and Jin Dynasties. Ruan Ji, Ji Kang, Shan Tao, Liu Ling, Ruan Yan, Xiang Xiu and Wang Rong were famous poets and artists at that time. Open and unruly, they used to gather and drink in the bamboo forest, singing songs and playing traditional Chinese musical instruments, in the hope of escaping from earthly life. They pursued individuality, freedom, and liberty. Their remarkable talent and passion made them a notable group in Chinese history. Part 2 exposes closed city life in a noisy metropolis, such as Shanghai. The 7 young people live in the city, but seem to have little connection with the city.

Short animated film based on a fairy tale.

In stark contrast to video, "Hand Made" focuses on the grain of the celluloid and the organic nature of emulsion. It was created by contact printing images with a flashlight in a darkroom without the use of a camera, labs, digital editing or any type of sound equipment.

"They had it all wrong. He's not trapped in there with them. They're trapped with HIM!"

This program follows UFO specialist Dr. Roger Leir as he uses the latest scientific and medical techniques to study alien implants inserted into human abductees, breaking the conspiracy of silence surrounding extraterrestrial activity on Earth. Leir documents the surgical removal of an alien implant from a human victim and also investigates a strange alien artifact found at a UFO hotspot that left conventional scientists baffled.

This film originated from a multi-media performance called Three Posters, conceived and staged by Mroué and the Lebanese novelist Elias Khoury, and first performed in Beirut in 2000. The performance centred on an unedited tape made by Jamal al-Sati, a fighter for Lebanon’s National Resistance Front. This shows three ‘takes’ of his martyr testimony rather than the approved version that was aired on Lebanese television. The three ‘takes’ allowed Mroué and Khoury to question the status of suicide videos and martyr posters, and to examine the ideological circumstances surrounding their production and place within the visual culture and political history of Lebanon.

Blue skies, babbling brooks, and a big book in a field full of flowers is the departure point for this video.

An extraterrestrial soldier lands his spaceship on a large clearing in the forest. He finds himself surrounded by the trees, so he jumps out, armed heavily, and screams: "All earthlings, surrender!" But in spite of all the military provocations which ensue, he meets no resistance, and so he starts to negotiate with a tree, "leader of the earthlings".

Created at the brink of 2004, this video documentary offers a knowing glimpse into the body of work of Ultra-Renaissance artist Mike Wrathell, whose creative powers rival even the great cartoon character Yogi Bear, and maybe even Huckleberry Hound.

Much of the footage that comprises Orchard is of a 19c ruins that included a walled orchard in and area known as Rostellen in southwest Ireland. It is set deep in the woods and the crumbling brick and mortar of the broken walls has become the anchor for the roots of slender trees, so uninhibited for all this time that they reach twenty feet in height and have thick roots that follow like slow lazy trickles of water and in other places branch and wind over the brickwork in an arterial arrangement reminiscent of the human body. Some footage of Central Park is in there, as well as Niagara Falls, the main Dublin-to-Cork road and a thin smoking woods on the outskirts of Rosslare, Co. Waterford These are facts may be incidental to the film’s eventual form, which winds the images into an arrangement of continuous wandering. All this is attended by environmental whispering sounds until a voice calls out toward the end, in dream-bound recognition, to a figure from the far, far past.

The pace of the film, step by step, sometimes blind, sometimes radiant, a one-way ticket, long before or after the story itself, brings the image to fruition. Like a mineral, enigmatic, a fragment of an ancient language.
