Remote Sensing is a two-year project resulting in a split-screen digital video tracing the topographies of the global sex trade in relation to satellite media and other geographic information technologies that visualise globality. The video unravels the multi-layered meaning of a geography in which the mobility and migration of women is linked to illicit economies and the implementation of new technologies.

HUNGRY GHOSTS is a collaboration between the artist and the curator. The video installation provides an ephemeral form where interdisciplinary elements from the disparate past are configured with unsettling current issues and produced as a new whole. Fleeting moments, manipulated images, visual clips, still photographs, text, narrative stories, home movies, sound bites, edited fiction and real time documents will be digitally seamed and beamed onto transparent surfaces. The video projections shown in a moving vaporetto (sea bus) will transport both the work and audience on a journey. The time-based work will float by the post-modernism of Venice, a rich port for thriving trade and now in the 50th edition of the Venice Biennale, the international art market converges to make the trade. This work is a site of memory where the very private becomes public. It is a virtual ‘walking the mountain’, a way to honour and remember those who have gone before.

Made in memory of Canadian artist and filmmaker Joyce June Wieland, June is a hand-drawn stereoscopic animation by NFB animator, Munro Ferguson. It is like a three-dimensional abstract painting that moves. June is Munro's attempt to capture what it was like for him to know Joyce. Part 1, "Alzheimer's", is about the end of her life. Part 2, "Memory", is about what she was like during the height of her creative powers.

Kurtal – Snake Spirit tells the story of Spider, a sprightly 80 year old Aboriginal elder who travels from Fitzroy Crossing into the Great Sandy Desert of Western Australia to visit a jila - a sacred waterhole. Spider is one of the main custodians responsible for the practices that take place there. For the first time, he is taking his family and community elders back to his birthplace, where he will communicate with their ancestors through Kurtal, the Snake Spirit in an ancient ritual. This unique documentary examines the ongoing change faced by a remote Aboriginal community and their determination to maintain their close links to birthplace and country. It shows the passing on of traditional knowledge from father to son and grandson, and the vital and sustained connection to ancestry and customs. It is a celebration of strong tradition and culture thriving through the spirit and willingness of the next generation.

FIREBRAND & AMETHYST: Death of a Superheroine The adventures of the Doll Squad continue as the villain known as Warlocke (Dean Paul) systematically traps and then kills members of the Doll Squad. His capture and murder of Lady Amethyst (Debbie D) bring together Lady Amethyst's sister (also Debbie D) and Firebrand (Laura Giglio). Firebrand is out for revenge for her attack and torture at the hands of Warlocke. But Warlocke uses the “deathstone” to absorb their powers, leaving them both completely helpless and at his mercy. Will they get their revenge or die trying? (nudity, bondage)

In Im Leo a red figure stands in the balcony doorway of a white model room—but at the same time outside in the open. Holding a mirror in her hand, Bajtala redirects sunlight, blinding the camera lens, effacing the image in rhythmic intervals. The soundtrack accentuates this rhythmization through its synchronization with the image. Alone this slight movement of an otherwise motionless body on the threshold between the paradoxical inner and outer realms suffices to address the ‘blind spot’ of the medium, and at the same time to render it incapacitated. Bajtala undertakes with the mirror, itself a threshold, literally a transformation of visibility and invisibility and in so doing sharpens awareness of changing realities within their context of representation and reproduction.

Winner of the People's Choice Award at the 2000 Banff Mountain Film Festival. A Higher Calling tells the story of 6 friends who travel to Nepal to fly cross country on their paragliders, experiencing the culture and the people by direct immersion upon each landing. The story begins far from Nepal however, skiing remote peaks in Alaska, where the idea to fly is born.
