Mark King Of Level 42 - Live In Concert

This 60-minute DVD features Mark King live in Ohne Filter TV-Studio in Baden-Baden, Germany. The longtime frontman for the British funk-pop group Level 42 was born in Cowes, England on October 20, 1958. A onetime drummer, upon co-founding Level 42 in 1980 he moved to the bass, honing a distinctive thumb-slapping technique which became an integral element of the group's sound; from their self-titled 1981debut onward the quartet enjoyed considerable success at home, and in 1984 King took time out to record his debut solo album, Influences.

Armor of God

Ear-splitting improvisational noise sculpture and Christianity aren't normally mentioned in the same breath. But they are the twin passions of North Carolina musician Scotty Irving, and the essential elements of his one-man act, Clang Quartet. Using homemade instruments achieving unfathomable volumes (and inspired by Biblical verse), Irving challenges his audience to rethink traditional ideas of music and spirituality. When Irving's motivations for walking so far out on musical and theological limbs are revealed, the "Armor of God" becomes a metaphor for the courage to create. Armor of God screened at more than eighty festivals and cinema venues internationally, winning nine awards (including a Juror's Citation from the Black Maria Film and Video Festival). The film also screened on regional PBS.

All-Star Bluegrass Celebration

A pairing of bluegrass legends with a newer generation of bluegrass stars, the All-Star Bluegrass Celebration was recorded live on January 16, 2002, at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, for a PBS television production. Hosted by Ricky Skaggs, the program featured veterans like Del McCoury, Ralph Stanley, and Earl Scruggs paired with neo-bluegrass performers like Nickel Creek and Alison Krauss. Ralph Stanley steals the show with his signature a cappella version of "Oh Death" and Earl Scruggs is simply amazing on banjo, as always. Other highlights include Bruce Hornsby playing what can only be described as bluegrass piano on the traditional "Darlin' Cory" and the beautiful, wistful "Seven Wonders" by Nickel Creek

Anna-Stina Ehrenfeldt and I were in Seville for a few of months in 2002. We decided to make a film. We had excellent wordless communication and had made several films together over the years. We decided on the following setup: I was to film, choose location and props, she would work with the material in front of the camera. I chose the Plaza de España in Seville and built a giant wheel. We had to hire a horse cart to get it there in four pieces and then assemble it in situ. Then we filmed it. (Håkan Dahlström)
