Brice Dellsperger's reprise of John Badham's Saturday Night Fever

ROUNDS is a hand-painted film composed of a series of film loops printed in such a fashion that, while there is a feeling of repetitive familiarity, no actual example of specific repetition is easily seeable. The colored abstract forms seem as if figures at a carnival and/or sometimes as if 'on stage': thus their actions are, then, particularly theatrical. When they most appear recognizable as the shapes of paint, which they are, these events seem the dramatics of the Abstract Expressionist movement - i.e. dramatically gestural. The film begins with blues and reds, occasionally yellows, and very occasionally limned by greens - these played off against clear white spaces or stark blacks. Gradually the film resolves its 'color keys' to an amalgamation of rapid intermix and balance of the four key tones midst darks and lights, eventually overwhelmed by a film-flare of yellows at end. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2014.

"A Little More A Little Less" is a simple, low-budget and no voice-over documentary. Images of São Paulo from above and pictures invite us to a trip that shows,as the directors put it, that one’s pain is a tragedy, and the death of millions, a statistic.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935 to Vernon and Gladys Presley. Elvis grew up as an only child. Elvis's musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in church, and the black R&B he absorbed as a Memphis teenager. In 1954, he began his singing career with Sun Record label in Memphis. In 1955, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation who ushered in a whole new era of American music. Elvis starred in 33 successful films, made historic television appearances, and knew great acclaim through his live concert performances. Elvis honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Known the world over, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture. Elvis died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977.

“The Davy Crockett Craze” (19:05) has Leonard Maltin interviewing author Paul F. Anderson (whose book has the same title as this featurette). Anderson spends most of the time explaining Davy’s place in history, and hearing his well-put view points is rather enjoyable. This is basically just a video of the two men talking, but it’s peppered with archival footage and photos.

214 million years ago a gigantic meteorite broke up and impacted Earth. 65 million years ago, the impact that killed the dinosaurs occurred where the country of Belize stands today. 200 thousand years ago early humans were walking and died when they were hit by a 40 meter wide meteorite hit South Africa creating a 1.4 km wide crater. This meteorite fragment, the largest ever found hit Namibia 80 000 years ago and more recently a major impact occurred in Toungouska, Russia in 1908. Every year 10 000 tons of meteoritic matter fall onto Earth in much smaller but not necessarily less influential pieces. This film will explore how the impact of these meteorites big and small through the ages have changed our world and what they brought from outer space with them that may have been the seed of life itself on Earth.
