The Secret of the Horse is based on the Second Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary, The Scourging at the Pillars. Football jock Alex taunts Victor Tran, a new student, until Victor knocks Alex down with one swift kick. Alex continues to antagonize Victor, and as Victor finds it increasingly hard to resist a fight, his father reminds him of the true purpose of martial arts, the secret of the “horse stance,” and the real meaning of sacrificial love. Based on Christ’s own endurance of suffering in the Scourging at the Pillar, this action drama will engage viewers of all ages both with its amazing martial arts sequences and its lessons of wisdom, strength, friendship and sacrifice for others.

This documentary was broadcast on the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cable channel to kick off the presentation of films related to TCM's theme of the month for September 2001. Actors Lee Grant and Paul Mazursky, producer Roger Corman, director John Carpenter, film critic Molly Haskell, and journalist Peter Biskind discuss the issues involved in six films of the 1950s. Topics include teenage loneliness, youth rebellion, changing gender roles, and the beginning of the sexual revolution.

The irony is that the record itself is not that exciting--just carrying your lunch pail to work every day--and barring some bizarre weather event or freak injury, everyone knew it was going to happen at Camden Yards on September 6, 1996, and the game unfolded pretty normally, other than guests such as Earl Weaver arriving in the broadcast booth to ramble about Ripken. But as soon as the game became official and Ripken grew tired of basking in the applause, he took an impromptu victory lap around the stadium slapping hands with the fans, and the ESPN broadcast crew had the rare insight to stay silent and let the moment speak for itself.

In 2001 Woodshed Films released their third Moonshine Experiment surf movie entitled “Shelter.” With a similar style and feel to the first two Moonshine Experiments, “Thicker Than Water” and “September Sessions”, “Shelter” is one of Taylor Steele and Chris Malloy’s best productions. This surf movie does a great job of staying far away from the politics of surfing and focuses more on soul surfing. However, don’t think that there aren’t any surfers worth watching in this movie because there are plenty. “Shelter” is jam packed with professional and well-known surfers such as Rob Machado, Taylor Knox, Joel Tudor, Mick Fanning, Dean Morrison, Jack Johnson, The Malloy’s, Kelly Slater, Nat Young, Donavon Frankenreiter, Shane Dorian, Jon Swift and many more. The soundtrack for “Shelter” is similar to “Thicker Than Water” and “September Sessions”. It has a slower and mellower feel, featuring artists such as Mason Jennings, The Shins, White Buffalo and even surfers Jon Swift and Rob Machado.
