In Guided By Voices, Sogo constructs a film version of Dennis Cooper's novel Guide. The highly abstracted, colored digital video (shot on video and Super-8) evokes a psychedelic experience. As Sogo recalls: "It was 5:45 AM; [I was] crashing at a friend's house, deep in Brooklyn, where I was dealing with a final point in the movie. Then, I crashed with a seizure, all my memories flashed before me. I fell off the stairs, and the film finished itself."

Re-enactments illustrate the details of the three principle stages of the battle of Antietam, fought November 17th, 1862. Also features animated tactical maps, dramatic readings of personal papers, and expert narrative commentary.

This tape is inspired by the 11th century Sufi mystical text The Conference of the Birds. It is a text which explores transparency and opacity, multiplicity and unity, narrative and insight, the mundane and the ecstatic. I include a postscript from the text which I included at the end of the tape perhaps best responds to the attempt to parse it: «Seek the trunk of the tree and do not worry whether the branches do or do not exist.»

As early as July 1933, Hitler introduced a racial hygiene law calling for sterilization, forced abortions and the first exterminations, including the T4 program, of a number of disabled and deaf people. For the first time, a seven-year investigation is being carried out into the history of the Jewish deaf under Nazism. It began in 1993, with a debate organized at the Bagnolet library, which showed that the deaf, gagged by their inability to speak, were unable to testify. Numerous testimonies, interspersed with images of the places where sterilizations took place (Hadamar hospital, Berlin...) and the Auschwitz museum, support this discussion. Historians such as Horst Biesold, a specialist in the problem of the deaf under Nazism, break the silence, unmasking the perverse logic of the Nazi regime in terms of racial hygiene and the annihilation of the disabled, and denounce the crucial role played by doctors in this sinister process.

"Whilst I was studying at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, a like-minded colleague Peteris Kimelis and I decided to find people who still grew tea mushrooms. My memories of growing tea mushrooms were foggy - in my early childhood, on a table in the kitchen stood a three litre glass jar with a strange, see-through pancake that floated in brown water. In spite of its appearance, it was a drink that was far superior to all the Coca-colas and Fantas of today. We placed a notice in the newspaper, stating that we were looking for people that still used and grew the tea mushroom. In the end, the project became a notable advertising campaign for the good old tea mushroom - it was in the press, on television and on the radio. A documentary film was made about tea mushroom growers that was screened in a specially organised Tea Mushroom Shop that was set up right in the centre of Riga, where any passer-by could get a free baby tea mushroom in a test tube."
