In this film, Stuart documents a journey he made from Colorado to San Francisco, which took him into his past and back into the life of his ex-wife. Stuart's interviews with friends, family and Sue herself - ranging from the crass to the sublime - explore the reasons their relationship failed and how Stuart can move forward with his life.

Even if we have not, it is not difficult to imagine. For we all carry around with us a mental databank of generic images of the world that surrounds us, fed by popular culture and the mass media as much as by direct experience. Tunnel is intended to evoke the idea or the memory of such a journey, rather than to simulate the experience of any actual event. It is closer in feeling to the images that form in the mind while dreaming, or when thinking about what it might be like to travel through an underpass, for instance.

This is a documentary which not only shows the ancient traditional art form of healing, but also tries to capture the essence of being a traditional healer in an ever-changing environment. Traditional healers are shown collecting, preparing and administering herbal remedies that they have passed down from one generation to the next. Healers discuss where, why and how they gained their knowledge and why they choose to carry on age-old customs and practices despite the fact that Tonga is becoming a nation increasingly dependent on western medicine. Tonga's traditional healers are adapting to niches such as prenatal care and physical therapy. Interspersed throughout the film are beautiful scenes of water, agriculture, rainforest and people, all of which comprise current island life in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Pride in Puerto Rico

In 1991 Puerto Ricans held their first-ever LGBTQ Pride march. Eight years later, director Jorge Oliver documented the 1999 Pride March, now an annual event on the island. Together with footage from the festivities are interviews with prominent Puerto Rican activists, including the first openly gay Puerto Rican candidate for the House of Representatives, working for social change. Pride in Puerto Rico also celebrates the strength of the community while also addressing the ongoing struggle against discrimination and ignorance.

Taking Plato’s ‘Allegory of the Cave’ as an example, he feels that the prisoners in the cave believed the shadows on the wall represented reality not because they were controlled by hallucinations, but because silhouettes projected onto walls by firelight were the beginning of mankind’s understanding of the meaning of the world.
