This film reveals, under the image of the provocative, misanthropic Austrian writer whose life was peppered with scandals and altercations, a funny and cheerful character, a "ruthless anarchist".

Sonato do mar made use of the computer programme for choreographers 'Life Forms'. The film shows how three 'Life-Forms figures' perform a choreography on a backdrop of shots of the sea. They dance on the water without being limited by gravity, physical restrictions, time or place.

Objects turn back the clock, reminding him of childhood, his father's departure, adolescence... His mother also remembers while watching him through a half-open door. The film chooses the relationship between a photographer and his wife and daughter as its main line, and introduces the daily life experience of the only daughter of a family in Beijing. In the process of filming, the story of this family's life becomes an almost universal story; the films has been appreciated as an important work for analyzing the processes of Chinese families, children, schools, and education today.

This film was the first acting experience for a woman in heels and a tight skirt, who ran, climbed over walls, opened manhole covers and walked endlessly through sewers in eighty-odd shots. It is also quite unusual to have a heroine who does not laugh at all, but she responds well to the demands, which must have been mentally and physically demanding. There is no spectacular action, but rather the endurance-style escapades convey the seriousness of life. The opening episode, in which Kay discovers that her lover is cheating on her, is a fairly well put-together romantic drama, although it is often forgotten because the second half of the film is entirely an escapade. Note that the director's name, the Yokogawa brothers, refers to one person, not several.

This film is set in a traditional household in Nepal and documents a servant girl, Nani; a married woman, Sarita; and a mother-in-law, Ama. In interesting mixture of entrapment, duty and tradition unfold.

In the Haitian countryside, where people have little access to doctors, hospitals, or conventional medicine, peasants have learned to use local leaves, herbs, and therapeutic massage as a way of curing simple ailments. This video follows several men and women as they take us into the bush to look for leaves that they need for healing. We then follow then home where they explain and demonstrate their way of preparing the poultice or infusion. Narrated by the people themselves –and with beautiful songs about the importance of leaves woven throughout – this poetic film gives unique insight into the culture.

Banaba is a remote and tiny island in the Pacific Ocean, about 50-miles South of the Equator, at the Western limit of the Republic of Kiribati. Once it was known as Ocean Island, named after ship that “discovered” it. Once it was the colonial capital of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, and one of the British Empire’s richest sources of phosphate, the raw material for the fertiliser that enriched the soil of Australia and New Zealand. From 1900 to 1979, phosphate mining devastated Banaba, leaving a landscape of barren coral outcrops and rusting machinery. Most Banabans now live in Fiji, two thousand miles away from Banaba, on Rabi Island (pronounced ‘Rambi’) to which the British exiled them in 1945, after three years of intense suffering under Japanese occupation. In July 1997, a small group of Banabans and ex-miners made a return journey to the island that was once their home. This documentary tells the story.

Pietro Dal Prà is one of the most famous Italian rock climbers. In the documentary we see him climbing Bec D'Ajal, in the Ampezzo Dolomites. He follows a solo ascent on the “Paolo VI” route to the Pilastro della Tofana di Rozes. The two ascents are a starting point and an opportunity for Pietro to tell about his world of mountaineering and climbing, a sort of journey into the world of vertical in the company of unusual climbing companions, the backpack, fear and emotions.

These processes reveal what might be hidden in the frames and photographic depths of the material, as well as constructing a way of looking in relation to their subject.
