PRE-EMANANCE, also called EMANANCE(1), is the first film in a series investigating the use of chemicals on analog film, in this case super8. Based upon images of sunlight reflected by water, the film features shifting layers of abstractions and semi-abstractions.

In 1925 a group from the Military Center of the Bulgarian Communist Party blew up the church 'St. King (now 'St. Nedelya') in Sofia. As a result 150 souls perished and many more were injured. What aims did these people pursue? What should we call them today - mad, insane, terrorists, idealists? It is time we realized the bitter truth that their aim was irrelevantly obscure.

Planetarium is the first artwork in the history to be created around the world. It is composed of two panels of 24m2 each. Kiro Urdin devoted 20 months to his realization inspired by all cultures he met, ethnic groups and historical monuments he has discovered by traveling around the planet: Germany (Berlin's Wall). Macedonia (Nerezi, Ohrid), Belgium (Brussels, Knokke, Brugge), France (Paris, Mont Saint-Michel), Italy (Roma, Pompei, Pisa), Great Britain (London, Stonehenge), Greece (Athens, Cape Sounion), Israel (Tomb of Jesus, the Wailing Wall Jerusalem), Egypt (Suez Canal, the Nile, Kheops Pyramid), Kenya (The Masai-Mara tribe), USA (New York City), Peru (Machu Pichu, Cuzco), Thailand (Bangkok), China (Beijing, The Forbidden City of Peking, the Wall of China), Japan (Tokyo, Kamakura), Netherlands (Nuenen, Eindhoven).

In this intriguing film, Jack Wise speaks very privately about his artistic process —'losing oneself in the language of the brush'— and what it means to be an artist. While at work in his studio, Wise talks about calligraphy being his freedom and the mandala his discipline. As he reveals his spiritual journey into Eastern religions and the importance of the mandala, we see the circle become a dominant motif in his art, and discern the influence of Chinese and Tibetan art on his own landscape-based work. Director David Rimmer's experimental voice asserts itself sensitively. Pace and imagery —water droplets, leaf and tree forms, a door which opens— sublimely convey the mystery and pulse of the artist's paintings, process, and perceptions.

During his long and varied career, Shaun Sutton has been an actor, writer, producer, director and ultimately Head of BBCtv Drama for twelve years. He was there when William Hartnell left the series and was instrumental in casting Patrick Troughton as his successor. Three years later he was still there to help in the choice of Jon Pertwee as the third Doctor! He was even there when Tom Baker joined the programme… He and Sidney Newman oversaw what is now called ‘the golden age of television…’ it was certainly the golden age of Doctor Who. Shaun shares with Nicholas Briggs his unique experiences in television production at the BBC and on Doctor Who in particular.

This film explores the complexity of female infanticide in southern India and shows steps that are being taken to eradicate the practice. Every year in India thousands of baby girls are killed. Partly because of the dowry system which makes a daughter a liability to a family. In a country where being a woman means living a life of hardship, the murder of female infants may be seen by the mothers as being a humane solution. URISE, a non-governmental agency, is working in the villages to promote the idea among women that female children are equal in the eyes of the law and can be an asset in the family, setting up associations called sanghams to support pregnant women and mothers in their decision to keep their daughters. When a girl is born, the sanghams celebrates her arrival with gifts, showing that a girl is something to be valued. This sensitive film does not dwell on the horrors of the practice. Rather, it allows the women to speak for themselves showing how they can be empowered.

Both address catastrophic events in the Catholic and Protestant psyches. Clear the Stage examines the work of this important Irish writer. Interviewees include: Frank McGuinness; David Ervine of the Progressive Unionist Party; Trevor Nunn, Director of the National Theatre, London; Brian Keenan, former Beirut hostage, and singer/songwriter Marianne Faithful.
