Tom Hayes airdrops viewers into the universe of an occupied people, unreeling images of a new form of apartheid based on ethnicity. Challenging U.S. foreign policy and the conventions of documentary, People and The Land examines the concrete realities of Israel’s conduct in the West Bank and Gaza, the level of U.S. support for that conduct through foreign aid, and the human cost of that aid in Palestine and the U.S.

Horse Dreams in BBQ Country

A funny and bittersweet portrayal of the long-time love between two gay ranchers in the patriotic, lottery-crazy land of South Texas. Though they struggle to make end's meet, Mario Borjas--Tejano to the core--and David Ewell, a Texas transplant--have somehow managed to fashion a rural life that has revolved around horses and each other for 14 years.

My Body

Charlie, a repressed gay man, has anal sex for the first time in his life. As a result, he falls victim to a new and rare disease called Sexually Repressed Shedding Disorder, which leads to the strange duplication of his body. Charlie discovers that he only has twenty-four hours to “re-integrate” his new body back into his old in order to continue his safe closeted existence.

A series of images of Sichuan teahouses shot with a handy camcorder by a young artist whose installations and paintings have been representative of Chinese contemporary art in exhibits around the world. The filmmaker explores emerging forms and space in the context of understanding a mechanism of information transmission, a theme that is also apparent in his installation works.

Things fall apart including the sense of a unified self. Ideas of continuity and stability are eroded. Images shot in Scotland, Saskatchewan and Montreal are combined with studio footage to create an associative narrative about an experience for which ordinary language is inadequate.
