The inhabitants of a Spanish village gather for the visit of a death defying tightrope walker. He comes with his own attractive aura of danger and drama, and the crowd are not disappointed. Animated in a sketchy style on paper, this film powerfully uses the graphic freedom of this technique to select and embellish, to swoop and wander around the village. Austere sound effects and an Albeniz guitar piece are used to heighten this charmingly modest drama in which ordinary things – a hammer driving a nail, a flock of birds wheeling in the sky – are given their due.

Bad Habitus Project

Bad Habitus Project collates images and ideas about the city of Newcastle. It is a portrait of the city built out of the stuff it has discarded: junk, used machinery, decaying vegetation, and is activated by the presence of the artist. Crow feels out its atmospherics, reproduces and reflects the quality of the city's space as it metamorphoses into its bicentenary, making visible its invisible sense of place.

The Last Traditional Potter of Kalimantan (Borneo)

The Leppo’ Ké, a subgroup of the Kenyah, an important Dayak set of people scattered in Borneo across the provinces of East and North Kalimantan (Indonesia) and the state of Sarawak (Malaysia), live in the district of Bahau Hulu, on the uppermost Bahau River, a tributary of the mighty Kayan River. The film was shot in Long Pengayan hamlet, at Apau Ping, the last settlement on the Bahau, and home to Oko’ (Grand-Mother) Asung Kiring. In the past, all Kenyah Leppo’ Ké women were potters, but today this is a dying craft, which is considered dirty work and therefore quite unpopular.

Real Life, Music, Television: A Trilogy

Real Life, Music, Television is a trilogy of music videos which examine the hyper-self-consciousness of adolescents. The images from "Performance" are derived from found footage of an 8th grade talent show and are combined with a list of gender-specific transformative sexual memories from the age of 4-18. "Ladies, There's a Space You Can't Go" is a deconstruction and a distortion of an episode of Sally Jesse Raphael titled "My Daughter Dresses Like A Hooker." "Talent Show" is derived from the same found footage as "Performance." The young boys lip-synch to a bubble gum rock song as they attempt to publicly assert their new-found sexual power.
