Granular Synthesis are the new media, video art, and music duo Kurt Hentschläger and Ulf Langheinrich, who take their name from the practice of sampling "microsounds" (audio clips lasting 1 to 50 milliseconds) to create new compositions. Part of a series of video and installation pieces, "Sweetheart" features a single close-up of performer Akemi Takeya. It was produced for the Austrian T.V. network ORF.

But it's rather paradoxical as, while this statement reaches the charts, the "artificial" (images, machines...) progress rapidly. Between hi-tech and virtual, the concept of nature holds its own, but has become rather confusing. What his happening to the notion of nature today ? The purpose of this documentary is to answer that question through many stimulating encounters with the genetician, Mr Albert Jacquard, the philosopher, Mr Pierre Lévy, the chemist and Doctor in philosophy, Ms Isabelle Stengers and the "anthropologist of the sciences", Mr Bruno Latour.

Shot on Super 8 and blown up to 16mm for a dreamlike effect, CRITICAL MASS is a strange, poetic vision of childhood. From its first vision sequence to its consequential conclusion, the film follows one boy's wanderings, both internal and external, as he tries to make sense of his world. Life, death, time and place become interchangeable when he happens upon a dead crow, a barren hilltop and a small boy who serves as a catalyst for his actions. CRITICAL MASS explores the power of childhood imagination that makes play become reality.

The Woman Matchmaker

In order to find such a fittingly inspiring matchmaker, the director visited nearly 10 matchmakers and finally selected the matchmaker in the film. The director then followed the matchmaker and witnessed the vicissitudes of life. In addition to the land, there is no form of art that can describe the heaviness of life and emotion. The Movement of Light at Night

This was the first film that I collaborated with fellow filmmaker and friend Steve Creson. We each shot a 100ft roll of film and we did not know what each other were shooting. The only thing that our footage had in common was the fact that it was all shot in color and at night. At the time that we did this we were each experimenting with new techniques of our own. This took place on a nice summer evening in July of 1996. This film sparked the beginning of a very prolific partnership. Film score by RUBATO.

It is a portrait of a community which shares their best waves, embraces new comers as well as old timers and comes together in a beautiful memorial, to show respect to the one they lost in the water, surfing. Swell is setting the record straight by revealing that women do surf and do it well!
