Riggs specialized in films dealing mainly with African-American males and the nuances of sexuality as it relates to their cultural, religious, and social identity. A teacher and prolific documentarian, the outspoken artist, Riggs, eventually succumbed to an AIDS-related illness in 1994.

This video, completed in 1996, provided the basis for a later version of Moving House, 2001. My great-grandfather arrived from Xiamen, China in the late 1800s and opened a crockery shop at Clive Terrace, no longer extant, off Beach Road. My grandfather grew up at Sheik Madrasah Lane off Ophir Road.
