Richard Jeni: Platypus Man

In his first HBO Comedy Hour appearance filmed in 1992, Richard Jeni: Platypus Man won the prestigious Cable Ace Award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special. Later, Jeni starred in the short-lived UPN sitcom "Platypus Man" and composed the theme song ("I'm A Platypus Man") for the TV series. A non-stop joyride and one of the funniest comedy shows ever recorded, Jeni's style will leave you breathless.

With the central image of the statue of Saint Teresa of Avila in Rome, together with glimpses of colour-saturated flower gardens, the Crucifixion and Baroque plasterwork, we listen to the gulping and frenetically clipped voice of the ‘saint’ pouring out her rapturous lament, attempting to express the unsayable. The film’s soundtrack combines a spoken voice by Nina Danino and performed vocals by New York experimental singer Shelley Hirsch.

Alf Robertson - så är det...

A summer in Ostrobothnia, Finland, with the Swedish country and western singer/songwriter and artist Alf Robertson. He grew up in Gamlestaden in Gothenburg went to sea on M / S Canada in 1957 when he was only 15 years old. In the spring of 1961, Alf Robertson was in New York. At 42nd street he discovered a Record-Yourself-Kiosk. He put in a coin and began to sing the slightly cheeky children's song "Doctor Lisa on touches the tummy", and this record became the first of Alf Robertson. In all he produced 50 albums and about 150 songs during his lifetime.

Using highly textured, multilayered images, the film contemplates the moment of her mysterious apparition in the dead of winter, surrounded by fire, while around her the air was filled with birdsong and otherworldly music.
