A feminine character stages fragments of paintings through dance. The metaphoric body constitutes the essence of this artwork. Two narrations are conjugated in the present and in the past : one speaks of the human quest for survival and the threat of man's intervention in nature, while the other evokes a wild nature where characters and animals are emerging. Paintings of Caravagio, Della Francesca, and Douanier Rousseau overlap the two accounts.

1000 Lakes Rally 1988

1988 • 60 min
The 1000 Lakes Rally 1988 was stunning. Championship leader Miki Biasion elected not to enter, so the Martini Lancia Team was spearheaded by Markku Alen and Mikael Erricsson. Ford hoped to challenge the all conquering Integrales. The Cosworth RS of Didier Auriol fought through the field to hassle the Lancia team. The Toyota Celica GT-Four in the fast care of Juha Kankkunen provided one of the highlights and Mazda made a rare appearance with two 323 Turbos for Timo Salonen and Hannu Mikkola. Add to these, Ari Vatanen in the BMW M3, and you can see why the 1000 Lakes rates so high in all rally drivers esteem.

Acropolis Rally 1988

1988 • 60 min
To see the results of the Acropolis Rally, one would imagine that the Lancia's Delta Integrale were back to their once unbeatable form. However, as in the Tour de Corse, the Team Martini backed cars faced a most serious challenge, this time from Juha Kankkunen in a Toyota Celica GT-Four. This was the cars debut performance on a gravel rally, and rally enthusiasts must surely look forward to further exciting events this year, as the might of the Japanese industry join Britain's Ford in an attempt to storm the Italian stronghold! The Acropolis Rally covered over 1,100 miles, with over 300 plus miles of gravel stages. The heat and dusty conditions took their toll of men and machinery, and the cameramen have excelled themselves in providing you with the finest coverage of this, one of the most picturesque locations for a rally in the world.

Monte Carlo Rally 1988

1988 • 49 min
In 1988, the scene was set for a showdown between the Martini Lancia team that had dominated 1987, and the rejuvenated Mazda team wanting to forget a disappointing season. While the works Lancia Delta HF 4WDs of Bruno Saby and Miki Biasion led the way, the Mazda 323s of Timo Salonen, Hannu Mikkola and Ingvar Carlsson were in trouble - diesel-contaminated fuel ruining their effort. When Biasion retired, the Lancias of Group N Champion Alessandro Fiorio and Yves Loubet joined the battle for victory. Loubet's luck ran out with the end in sight, his Lancia crashing into retirement. Behind Saby and the Jolly Club-backed Delta of Fiorio, Jean-Pierre Ballet's Peugeot 205 GTi took unexpected third. Incredibly, former World Champion Salonen recovered from 42nd to take fifth, just behind the battle-scarred Renault 11 Turbo of Alain Oreille. Enjoy incredible action, interviews with the stars and some spectacular 'moments' in these excellent highlights.

The Italian team had prepared thoroughly for their tenth attempt to win this round, with a tortuous 4,200 kilometres lying waiting to catch the unwary. Leading into it was championship hot-man Miki Biasion, with the Lancia Martini Integrale sporting a six-speed gearbox for the first time. Nissan and Toyota were expected to provide the main opposition to the Lancias, with Biasion anxious to extend his lead over team-mates Cesare Fiorio and Markku Alen, with Stig Blomqvist lurking menacingly in the Ford.

Rallye Sanremo 1988

1988 • 52 min
The Lancia’s on home territory - what a combination the rest of the competitors had to deal with at the 1988 Rallye Sanremo, held in the hills above Turin. The early asphalt sections would suit the Ford Sierra RS Cosworths of Didier Auriol and Stig Blomqvist, whilst the ‘87 champion Juha Kankkunen was hoping to restore some pride with a good drive in the Toyota Celica GT-Four. Italian rally fans were out in force to back Biasion driving the Lancia Delta Integrale as he tried to clinch his first World Championship crown, on home ground. The battle for the Group N title was another that could be settled at Sanremo, with Argentinian Jorge Recalde and Belgian Pascal Gaban arrived at the start on level pegging, with just one more round to go in the Championship.
Rally Sweden 1988

Rally Sweden 1988

1988 • 55 min
The mild weather experienced on the Monte continued in Sweden, but it didn't unduly rob the event of excitement. Indeed, in some places the speeds on snow neared those on dry tarmac! Flat out through the slush and snow banks, the world's top drivers showed just what can be done when road conditions comprise a mixture of all terrain. The cameras are in all the right places to capture the action and there are interviews with the drivers, shots of the service crews at work and viewpoints from all angles throughout the event. There was the added attraction of seeing if Markku Alen could take a further step towards his ambition of overtaking fellow Finn Hannu Mikkola as winner of most World Championship rallies.

The relationship between Mexico and its rich neighbor to the north has always been ambiguous. Using mostly stock footage, this collage-like documentary “stars” Robert Redford, John Gavin and Superman in an exploration of the largest border separating the First and the Third World—that separating the United States of Mexico from the United States of America. Incorporating texts by Octavio Paz and others, images from Mexican melodramas and Hollywood movies, this film forces American viewers to consider the question of cultural imperialism from “the other side.”
