Fifty years ago cricket was riven by an acrimonious feud. The cause of the furore was the determination of England's Captain, Douglas Jardine , to regain the Ashes at any cost. Against Australia's ' run machine ' Don Bradman and the rest of the team Jardine unleashed Harold Larwood , one of the fastest bowlers the world has ever seen. As Larwood scythed through the demoralised Australians' batting there were howls of anguish from cricket lovers, who branded it ' unsportsmanlike '. The story of that explosive tour is told by some of the men who played through cricket's darkest hour, and the man whose bowling changed the ethics of international cricket for ever, the former Notts miner - Harold Larwood.

1983 • 27 min • United States of America
Danny has just received a computer as a gift and is intimidated by what he perceives to be an enormously complex and alien piece of machinery. Falling into a deep sleep, Danny is visited by his computer who proceeds to explain why he shouldn't be afraid of computers. Starting with identifying the similarities between a typewriter and a computer keyboard and stressing that a computer is nothing more than an information processing machine that combines, sorts, and rearranges numbers, the program quickly dispells much of the mystery surrounding this increasingly important part of our lives. By speaking in simple terms, we are made to understand that the computer is basically dumb until it receives direction from a human operator.

“Movies shot on high-sensitivity 8mm film have rough grain, and you can see this grain moving in like a haze on the screen. Oil paintings show the texture of oil paint, and watercolors show the texture of watercolor paint and paper. Movies show the texture of film, and the smaller the area of the film, the larger the grain seems, so its texture becomes more pronounced. The plane that takes off in the film gets smaller and smaller as it moves away, until it becomes smaller than the film grains themselves and is buried in the grains of the blue sky.” (Isao Kota)
