Jean-François loves Constance with a tender and passionate love. It is enough to see the behavior of this lunar clown to realize that every moment passed away from his beloved is a real torture. Shared between endless trips in the corridors of the metro and evenings between friends, it is not good in his skin. In search of complete happiness, he tries to satisfy his vocation: to become acrobatic with Constance, but, as a result of mediocre performances, even null, this aspiration leads to a dead end.

Hiroshima - Ahead of Us?

1981 • 4 min
This work produced by Swedish television, where Swedish kids reads texts written by Japanese kids about their experiencing of and surviving the bombings. In the film we see images/drawings painted by these children. Nestlers inspiration comes from the book Children of the A Bomb "Five years after the atom bomb fell on Hiroshima, a Professor of Education at Hiroshima University organized a project to preserve for the record the stories of those who had been on the receiving side of that catastrophic explosion. (Martin Grennberger)

Luna, Luna, Luna

Luna, Luna, Luna

1981 • 13 min
A child sleepwalks into the forest. A black vastness inhabited by night creatures throbs and chirps, croaks and gurgles. As she wades deeper into the shimmering night, the real forest and the imaginary one dissolve into each other. Apparitions and phantoms begin their nocturnal dance. The atmosphere becomes charged and witches come shrieking to life. When the fear of the night reaches its peak, the moon rises and the final lunacy begins. An animated film about a child's reaction to the mysteries and magic of the night. Film without words.
Small Foveal Fields

Small Foveal Fields

1981 • 5 min
Small Foveal Fields, a continuation of my work with abstract filmic imagery, is primarily concerned with the mystery and elemental poetry of visual perception. Structurally, this film consists of ten separate-but- related episodes in which kinetic atmospheric light emerges from darkness, creates and activates color images and color space, then fades into black. Each of these ten mobile color fields interacts with a static grid system of white dots which provides a geometric reference and counterpoint to the film’s amorphic evolution

The Same Old Story

The Same Old Story

1981 • 3 min • Canada
A deceptively simple film, The Same Old Story is over almost before it has begun. A story within a story within a story, its effect is jarring, ambiguous and lingering. The film speaks of fear, which is as old as humanity and as new as today. An animated film in which reality and fantasy overlap dangerously.
Ana Mendieta: Selected Film Works

Ana Mendieta: Selected Film Works

1981 • 34 min
Some of the films are presented in tandem in darkened interiors that resemble the caves where Mendieta sculpted some of her final works. One film depicts the artist lying naked in a creek, suggesting cleansing and rebirth. In another film, "Keane College Volcano" at Galerie Lelong, the wind is gently stirring a mound of ash that swirls up from a stone form's breast. The bluish powder twirls up and teasingly dissipates. This breathless little dance, this choreographed chance of the elements is the best. Ana Mendieta may have written her name on the earth in disappearing ink, but she did it so well that we can't erase it.
