Petits Métamorphoses

Petits Métamorphoses

1975 • 12 min • France
‘Small metamorphoses’ is the name of an old game: different body parts are drawn on cardboard to form various characters including a couple and a child. The couple refuses this child in order to forget the failure of their love. Changes take place in the relationships, the clothes, the gestures, as time reveals the truth.
極私的魚眼抜け

極私的魚眼抜け

1975 • 9 min • Japan
This work was created by wondering if it was possible to make a fisheye image with a 16mm camera, and realizing that it was possible with a wide-angle lens and a wide-angle attachment, I found such a lens combination. Almost 150 degrees of the circumscribed fisheye. Because the fisheye lens replaces the hemisphere of the field of view with a flat surface, the image becomes circular, creating a centre and periphery. Using this as a metaphor for the structure of the world, the film is a statement of the artist's thoughts. The music is borrowed from Mayumi Gorin and T. REX's album. Produced in 1975. The artist was 40 years old. (Suzuki Shiroyasu).
The Twilight of Tamsui

The Twilight of Tamsui

1975 • 26 min • Taiwan
A train rolled into Tamsui, a charming harbour town full of historical and cultural complexity. European-style architecture tells its colonial past, while Fujianese immigrants' influence stays present in local people's everyday life. Celebrated photographer and cinematographer CHANG Chao-tang captured Tamsui in the 1970s on film, creating a nostalgic yet melancholic concerto played by missionaries, fishermen, and tourists.
Pursuit

Pursuit

1975 • 23 min
Images of sixteen men and women are shown, one by one, as they run on a conveyor belt against a black background. They appear to be in a complete void. The camera films the runners from all kinds of angles: sometimes from the front, from the knees up, then in profile or a focus on one of the limbs in close up. The heavy breathing of their exertions is audible. The tight close-ups of the limbs lend the moving body parts an almost abstract, mechanical character.

Phenix

Phenix

1975 • 15 min • United States of America
I dedicated Phenix to my father Franjo Zdravič, reconstructive surgeon, because he opened a new world of beauty and meaning for me. For some two weeks he led my way through rooms of very special climate - Ljubljana Medical Centre Burns Department - where threads of sighs, of nightmarish dreams, of misery, of compassion, of joy, are woven with hands of calm determination: to inflict wounds to a living being in order to give him/her a new form and function. - AZ

Imago

1975 • 10 min • Italy
It is the attempt to initiate an analytical discourse on the image, alternating visual events with written words which reflect on the image [...] and which, on the screen, become images themselves. The relationship between word and image here is often reversed, sometimes juxtaposed, always slightly shifted. In this film, the feeling of the image as a "phenomenon" returns.
