BBC Films for Television Training: Television Production Planning

1968 • 37 min • United Kingdom
A BBC Television Training film that pulls back the curtain on how TV was really made in the 1960s, clipboards, call sheets, and all. It’s a fascinatingly dry yet oddly hypnotic look at the mechanics of production: script breakdowns, scheduling, budgeting, and the careful choreography between departments that kept live and recorded shows on air.

The Case Against Lincoln Center (Newsreel #17)

1968 • 12 min • United States of America
"More than 20,000 Latino families were displaced to make way for Lincoln Center, home to the Metropolitan Opera and the New York Symphony. This film examines the patrons of art complex (corporations and wealthy families) and the culture displayed there. Juxtaposing the atmosphere of Lincoln Center with the vibrant street culture of a displaced neighborhood, the film correctly predicts the process by which the West Side was to be turned into a high-rent area for the upper middle class" - Third World Newsreel

It had already been postponed by the Berlin Action Council in Frankfurt in September after the famous tomato throwing by the women. Now attempts are made once again to develop common criteria for the supra-regional context of the SDS, for an SDS whose organizational structures have been overturned by the revolt itself. Factions emerge, the Frankfurt Women's Council distributes its leaflet "Free the socialist eminences from their bourgeois tails", the wave of lawsuits looms. Joscha Schmierer as Django criticizes the student "shitty milieu that is out to satisfy immediate needs. Christian Semler calls for a strong central office. Satan Bouche un Coin

Satan Bouche un Coin

1968 • 12 min • France
The film is a series of images, shown in short takes (anywhere from a few frames to 30 seconds), of more or less fetishistic imagery (something Bouyxou was particularly fond of). After a credit and title sequence written on naked human flesh, the viewer sees the brilliant Molinier standing sanctimoniously in front of a screen. Soon he is joined by a woman, and he fondles her breasts while retaining his signature grin. Molinier seems to almost be the 'ringmaster' of the incidents, with almost every minute episode cutting back to him. His presence is one thing that makes this film remarkable; the same sort of aura that exists in Moliniers famous self-portraits and cut-ups is present here, on screen. (esotika.blogspot.com)
